Moral insanity. The tragedy of stupid people

based on “The four of them. The tragedy of stupid people” by Gabriela Zapolska

Love pentagon. Wife, Husband, Lover, Friend, Lover's Lover. "Silver duckling, sugary doll, little kitten with velvety paws, a violet roasted in sugar, a golden mosquito". Glace compliments and melodramatic gestures interwine with childish hysteria outbreaks. Playing house transforms into a tragic farce, while in this game there is someone else, defenseless, depersonalized, devoid of the right to speak... A child falls prey to adults' moral insanity. The main theme of Zapolska's play written more than 100 years ago is strikingly up to date. However, theatrical conventions and styles get older faster than remarks concerning human morality. Young artists tried to find the best possible theatrical form, which would be a kind of medium allowing communication between a drama written at the begining of the XX century and a contemporary spectator. The performance created by PAPAHEMA links drama acting with means of expressions characteristic of puppet theatre.
